Also, when we finally got it installed, we realized that one of the joints where its soddered together had come undone.

It really is beautiful though! I cant give it a high score because its clearly cheaply made, but its gorgeous. Update the light just fell apart where its weakly sodered. I was home alone and heard a crash downstairs.
I almost called the police, but it was just part of the light falling off all on its own and crashing on the island. Disappointing.”

This was the first time I ever installed pendant lights and it was an easy task to replace the boring pendants that were installed by the builder. I found it easiest to first uninstall the existing pendant lights.
I then assembled the pendant completely, then attached them to the junction box in the ceiling. Once you have decided on which tubes to use for the desired height, put them together to get a rough idea on how much wire length you will actually need, remember to leave enough excess to make your electrical connections. I found it easier to cut some of the excess wire away to make threading into the tubes less cumbersome. Threading the cables through the tubes individually worked the best and then screwing them together after the cable was threaded. The standard Edison bulbs were a bit too large and extended about 1/4 inch below the rim of the bell dome. So, we used Vintage Edison Mini Tube Clear Glass bulbs. Depending on the size of the room and the number of pendants you may want to either use 25W or 40W equivalent bulbs or put in a dimmer switch.”

For the price, I think the fixture is just ok, but if I hadn’t received a refund for the fixture being damaged, I honestly don’t know if I would’ve kept it.”

Redesign Your Chandelier: From Boring Brass to Beautiful Bronze

Metallic spray paint (Rust-oleum oil rubbed bronze was used in this project)
Homes built in the ’80s and’ 90s had brass hardware, and while functional and still looking good, they are the main targets of an update. Instead of replacing them, why not bring them back to the present with a little paint?
Remove the plastic lamps and candles. Wrap the receptacles of the bulbs with duct tape.
Place a piece of painter’s plastic on the floor under the lamp. Place a layer of towels directly under the chandelier and thoroughly spray the cleaner. The cleaner should run off the lamp, carrying all the dust and dirt. Let the chandelier dry completely.
Staple and secure the painter’s plastic to the ceiling around the lamp about three feet apart in all directions. Remove the towels from the floor and place another layer of plastic on the floor covering the entire room. Overlap the ceiling plastic with vertical panels falling from the ceiling to the floor, covering the plastic panels several feet away.
Wear protective clothing, cover your head, wear safety glasses and a face shield. Enter the plastic tent between the overlapping panels and paint the chandelier, making sure to cover all surfaces with light brush strokes. Take a break between layers to get some fresh air. Remove the plastic, replace the candles and lamps and enjoy your new chandelier!
Wait for the paint dust to settle completely before removing the plastic spray booth.
Wear a paint respirator if you have breathing problems.
